Our Work
WE PRACTICE OUR FAITH BY LIVING OUR FAITH –
BY GIVING SOME MIX OF OUR TIME, TREASURE, PHYSICAL EFFORT, AND SKILLS TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROMOTE SOCIAL JUSTICE.
For us,
FAITH IS NOT EASY.
FAITH IS WORK.
FAITH IS ACTION.
To that end, we have established the “DAVE NELSON SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE” to account for, report on, and cheerlead the many Social Actions that our Fellowship is engaged in.
We’ve named the committee for Dave Nelson, a one-man steam engine for Social Justice. Here he is with his Partner-in-Justice Cathy White (an active Member and a motivational icon for the rest of us).
We recently completed a report of two types of Social Action at UUFS. The first type is the various activities formally engaged in by the entire Fellowship. The second type is the many non-profits that are privately supported by individual Members of the Fellowship.
We wanted to assess whether we as a Congregation, and we as individuals, are “living our faith”.
Our conclusion is that we are doing well, and do not need to investigate still more non-profits to add to our list. However, we did suggest increasing our involvement in several non-profits that we are currently engaged with.
The published report is called “LIVING OUR FAITH“.
